JJ Stenhouse

I work with capable people who are done outsourcing authority to experts, systems, or inherited frameworks, people who are ready to think clearly for themselves again.

My work isn’t about improvement or optimisation. It’s about removing distortion, the assumptions, roles, and borrowed ideas that quietly interfere with clear perception, clean responsibility, and self-trust.

Before moving into human development work, I spent many years in mainstream media, where clarity is not a philosophy but a necessity. I worked as an anchor and correspondent for ITN, NBC, and SABC among others, and wrote and edited for major newspapers, magazines, and digital platforms. I also built an international reputation as a media trainer and communications strategist, working with national and multinational organisations, NGOs, government bodies, and advocacy groups.

That background trained me to listen for what doesn’t land – the hidden assumptions, mixed signals, and unnecessary complexities that dilute meaning and create confusion. It still shapes my work today.

Over the past two decades, I’ve worked across wellbeing, communication, leadership, and personal development. I’ve trained in, and moved beyond, numerous disciplines, including NLP, behavioural profiling, communication psychology, and transformational modalities. That breadth matters less to me now than the discernment it produced.

I don’t teach methods, I don’t offer answers and I don’t position myself as an authority to follow.

I listen, name what’s happening, and remove what no longer belongs so that people can reclaim their own authority and act from clarity and ease rather than effort or obligation.

As an experienced broadcaster and writer, I’ve also hosted and co-hosted programmes including Alchemy 1.01 on UK Health Radio, Hurt Less, Live More (with the late Dr Mark Goulston), and Tik-Tokophobia with Alexia Leachman – all exploring human behaviour, perception, and responsibility without dogma or dependency.

I’m a contributing author to Voices of the 21st Century: Conscious, Caring Women Who Make a Difference, New Makers of Modern Culture, and The New Millennium Tales – Baby Boomer Marketing Stories. I’m also a co-founder of Ladder of Growth.

My work now sits in one clear place – helping people to stop carrying what was never theirs, and think clearly again.
